Douglas received his Bachelor of Science Degree in Accounting from Rutgers University in 1977. He started his career in the private sector, rising through the ranks from staff accountant to corporate comptrollership positions before moving into the public accounting arena. His extensive industry experience includes manufacturing, construction, insurance, distribution, and importation businesses.
He spent 22 years as founder and manager of his own accounting practice specializing in accounting and taxation, with emphasis on taxpayer representation services before the federal and state taxing authorities, including examinations, collections, and appeal cases. He holds an Enrolled Agent license before the Internal Revenue Service, and is a Fellow Graduate of the National Tax Practice Institute. He is currently a candidate to sit for the special US Tax Court examination for non-attorneys.
Douglas is a regular member of the National Association of Enrolled Agents and of the Florida Society of Enrolled Agents, and is an affiliate member of the Florida Institute of Certified Public Accountants. He has held various positions of leadership in the Suncoast Chapter of Enrolled Agents, becoming Chapter President in 2002-2003.
